pathfinder online - the river kingdoms a playground of chaos and opportunity

The River Kingdoms a land divided under different kings and lords and with that brings opportunity not only are the river kingdoms filled with stories of adventure but of grate wealth, and with enough coine in your purse who's going to argue if you start calling your self a lord.

pathfinder vets will recognize the setting from kingmaker set in the stolen lands to the north of the map a very good adventure path if you are interested in the setting, from the start goblin works have been committed to the game being an open would sand box where the player builds the content and makes there way the the world there will still be PVE in the game and i am interested but i am more interested in what will unfold when it will come to PvP as players will be able to claim territory and build there own towns and forts like in EVE online i am sure we will be hearing stories of the struggles between guilds.

this diagram brings a smile to my face right here you can see the very system they are going for  and i hope it goes this way the possibilities this brings up are endless.

pathfinder MMORPG - an introduction

i do love me a bit of role playing be it on a table or in a MMO so for the fact that goblin works will be releasing a pathfinder MMO has made me very happy, not only that they what to make it a sandbox to be like EVE online is getting my senses tingling all over so i will be harping on about this game up until its release. but first an intro to the background of the world and the area called the river kingdoms.

the world of golarion is an old world with empires built on top of old empires witch where built on older ones everything was cool in the wold until Aroden the top god died. opening a would in the world with demons crawling out of it and it only continues to grow his death also started off a huge hurricane called the Eye of Abendego sinking a kingdom or two in the process. so thats the premise behind the would its going to hell in a hand basket but what a bout the river kingdom i hear you ask well thats for next time

Skyrim DLC i would love to see

So far there have been two major DLC's for Skyrim Dawnguard and Dragonborn witch add new areas and new quests and story elements to the game. so with that being said i would like to discuss sum of the story threads i would like to see continued.

after-math of the civil war
the main quest line in Skyrim is the return of the dragons and the return of Alduin but just as prevent to the story is the on going cilval war, every person you meet in the game will say summating about it at sum point and i feel there should be consequences for witch side wins in the war.

Stormcloak victory
we all know the stromcloaks have the very recist eliminate to them with the Skyrim for Nords unless they are helpful to the us but other than that we are not care for them or there well being. the first consequence is the grayqauter should be emptied of dark elves and replaced with new Nord residents Ulfric uses his victory to shove out the dark elfs from his city and that are forced in to a slum just out side the city walls. the next thing is the what about the Khajiit caravans well say good bye to them story wise after the storm cloak victory a group or angry Nords ambushed the caravans you should only have one survivor to tell his tail and the player should be able to visit the sight of the ambush to see for him self.

Imperial victory
for this a increased presence of the Thalmor all major cities that rebelled now have Thalmor guards as well as small towns people should just disappear never so be seen buy the player agin and are replaced by a high elf now runs this shop or inn. Also all the temples are now run buy the Thalmor. marshal law and a crackdown on the stormcloak should also follow and you will find small new settlements hidden away

The moot
the crowning of the high king of skyrim is also an event i would love to see played out in the game if you have played fallout new vegas  you will remember when president Kible poped over for a visit i would love to see it played out like that.

A reason as to why the Thalmor banned Talos worship
If you have played oblivion then you know Talos divinity has already been proved to be true after all it was his blood that opened the portal in order to retrieve the dragon amulet. its odd that this argument is never brought up in the game but it could be a way for an entirely new pice of DLC if you have read any of the Terry Pratchett books then you know about the small gods, in the Diskworld the more a god is believed in the more power he has to the point if only one person believes in him he is only the size of your little finger or results in sum strange gods like the god of hangovers. But what if the Dominion are trying to do just that take away his power so that there own emperor can take his place it could also offer the opportunity to go to a new land as well.

Total Warhammer

in december last year my ultimate game came just one more step to actually being created what game may you ask well at this point we do not know. but what i can tell you is that creative assembly have the license for games workshops Warhammer fantasy game we have no idea at this point as to what we will get but i do hope that it turns out to be a strategy game.

many of you will know the total war mods that all ready do this but an actual game made by the developer is going to obesely have a lot more time and man power to work on such a game no offense to the warhammer mods but i can recommend call of warhammer its worth giving a go. and hopefully it will not turn out like mark of chaos.

but there could be an altogether different take on the possible game they could go down to the city Mordheim

for those of you not in the know this has to be one of games workshops best creations. but i think it best comes across as fantasy XCOM. You are in control of a warband whose job is to find the warpstone scattered within the city left over from when meteor struck the city so not only are you in conflict with the creatures such as the skaven but demons as well, but other warbands looking for the same loot as you. It all so had sum grate RPG elements to it as well say your party took a beating your men  could come back half mad after being lost wandering the streets, two handed weapon wilders could loose one of there arms and loose there ability to wield sutch a weapon.

so there are lots of options they could go for but i do hope that do not make another total warrior game that would be a waste of the license.

Crusader Kings II next DLC OLD GODS

I love crusader kings 2 for those of you who do know it need no introduction but for those who have not played the game or never herd of it i shall fill you in. The premise of the game is to lead your family to greatness in the medieval age and there an numbers ways to do this like shear military might or perhaps you like to play politics to gain favor and to get your allies to do the fighting for you or by a good old fashioned snake in the bed, its a game with no clear win condition the game give you the tools and sets you loose on the world to re create history or change it.
The game also had RPG eliments to it as well as your monarch has stats that will affect how well he rules the realm and deals with his vassals its also important to groom your airs as the will be siting on your throne when you die so if he is laking in intrigue then he needs a good spy master as his close friend to watch his back and check his bed for snakes. so far there have been three other major expansions to the game the sword of islam witch allowed you to play as muslim rulers and the legacy or rome witch added new Byzantium empire events as well as new factional warfare in your kingdom and the Republic DLC where you can play as merchant republics Venice, Genoa, Pisa, the Hanseatic League or Gotland and allowed playes to become extremely Rich  by building trade posts and having control of the trade zones in the game but i am looking forward to the next DLC for one reason it has VIKINGS :O

yes i love vikings and its a shame they always seam to be left out in games the last time that had this much fouces was medieval the viking invasion but i am looking forward to this hears what we know.

  • Play as a Pagan chieftain and ravage your weak neighbors. If you remain at peace for too long, your people will grow restless...
  • New special start date in 867 AD: The Viking Rurik has founded the kingdom of Rus and the Great Heathen Army under the sons of Ragnar Lodbrok rampages through England.
  • Play as a Zoroastrian lord and restore your ancient religion to prominence.
  • Adventurers: Landless characters can gather armies and go off to carve out new realms on their own.
  • Prepared Invasions: Declare your intention to invade and watch your armies grow with adventurers and restless warriors, but don't wait too long to start your war or it might all fall apart...
  • Rebels with a Cause: Rebels are no longer a faceless menace – they are now led by characters with agendas.
  • Loot and pillage provinces. Burn down their cities and take their gold!
  • Sacrifice to Odin at the great Blot!
  • Christians and Muslims can dispatch missions to convert the depraved heathens.
  • New beautiful Pagan interface skin.
  • New events and decisions: berserkers, sejdr, curses, omens, divinations, runestones and much more.

first of all the start date is perfect its at the hight of the viking raids and raiding is what the vikings are known for the mechanics for this look grate as know you can set an army to a raiding army and the will loot and pillage a reaigon rather than take it. the other part that all so interests me is as you know the vikings are famous for there long boats that could not only sale the sea but where shallow enough so sail up rivers as well so a new addition to the map rivers have been added so you are not just limited to striking at costal areas witch will be interesting if you want to play as a a non viking faction and presents new challenges on how you will defend your self from such a  invasion as you will have to watch not only the seas but the rivers as well.

the other part i am loving is the viking army or the grate heathen army and the adventurer that will be in play as well starting as the army will allow you to carve out the viking kingdom in Britain and take on northumbria mercia and wessex it will be interesting to see how they will play in response to the invasion not only that but any non viking player will also have to deal with Adventures as well it will be interesting to see how that will affect the game world as well so far i have to say i am really looking forward to going a viking and sacrificing to odin.

Lucasarts is dead long live Lucasarts

yes Lucasarts is dead as we know it staff where informed this morning  of the news but it come as no surprise as disney had put on hold 1313 and first assault Disney will still use the Lucasarts name to license games so it could not be the end of 1313 and first assault but it could all so mean that other developers can now potentially pitch new star wars games.

they also issued this statement

“After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games,"

its a shame to see such an iconic studio go but all good things must come to an end but that will all ways be remembered for there amazing point and click games like the monkey island games and grim fandango.

but when you think about it it was bound to happen the most successful star wars games of the past years have been the kotor games and the battlefront and that where not made by the studio LucasArts last title to see any sort of success was  Star Wars The Force Unleashed. The sequel didn't live up to expectations. The last game published by LucasArts was Kinect Star Wars and the less about that the better.

it is a shame as 1313 looked very promising and i hope another studio takes over it as it sounds close to completion as well.

Lucasarts forgotten game Gladius

how many of you remember this one ?

yes its is a forgotten lucasarts game but its more of a game that just did not leave a big impact on the game playing public at the time, The game was rated as one of the "best Xbox games most people never played" by Official Xbox Magazine but first a bit about the game.

the focus of the game is to build a school of gladiators and take them on the road in a quest to become the the best in the world, at the start of the game you could pick between Ursula or Valens the only difference in the choice between the two is where you start Valens starts in imperium the Roman theamd land and Ursula who starts in Nordagh, Ursula is who you pick if its your first time playing as this is the beginners path and has more of a gentle lerning curve to it. As for the story i will not say too much about it but it is a pretty standerd fantasy affair ancient god gets stopped and his followers are trying to bring him back and you are the only one who can stop them the bad side to it it ends on a cliffhanger for a sequel that was never made.
the game play its self is comes down to a rock-paper-scissors combat your gladiators are split in to three different types light medium and heavy so in combat would work out like this light ≥ heavy ≥ medium ≥ light so you have to work out a balance in your team and work on how well you position your gladiators sounds simple right ? well not really there are numerous game modes witch force you to constantly adapted that are not just a straight up fight as well as the magic mechanic so not only could a medium gladiator beet a heavy if he used fire attacks so there the elemental damage to factor in as well as the crowd bonus eatch crowd reacts differently so using a elemental attack may get you the kill but you will loose the crowd favor and the bonus that it gives you.

One of the things i think that put people of the game despite it gaining really good critical reviews at the time was the difficulty curve if you starts by picking Valens the game throws you no easy balls this is a game where you will find your self restarting a lot this game is difficult to master but its never not fun when you are fighting its all about learning the mechanics and how to stack them in your favor.

but unfortunately no one played it much like psychonauts the people who played it remember it and word spreads slowly maybe one day it will get rereleased but in the mean time if you get the chance to play this grate gem give it a go.
